How men can better manage stress
Today there is a significant conversation about stress and especially about stress at work about women. The number of people signed off due to stress-related ill-health has grown at an alarming rate.
As a mindfulness coach, I see many women reaching out for support. Mindfulness training in and out of workplaces, yoga, meditation and the like appear strongly skewed to females. Therefore, it’s essential that we talk more about men and stress in the workplace and beyond. And find more ways to encourage men to participate in mindfulness training. So for International Men’s Day, I put together a short overview of stress with a focus on men.
Go outdoors and connect with nature
We all need to do more getting outdoors and connecting with nature!
Because of how we live there is a massive disconnect with nature. Science is showing us the spending just 2 hours in nature can reduce our stress by up to 800%, so that seems like a pretty significant reason to spend time more time outside

How to respond to stress differently
Often, we talk about stress in a one-dimensional context, i.e., fight or flight. However, is this the only response humans have to stress? According to research we have another innate response ‘tend and befriend’ which allows us to bring care and compassion to the forefront of any stressful situation.
